South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut

I honesty loved this movie. I was a fan of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's Comedy Central series South Park from the very beginning, but was skeptical when I heard it was coming to the big screen. South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut was a truly enjoyable film for me, with tons of laughs, memorable (but sometimes vulgar) songs, obvious political satire, and crude animation. The plot follows the trails of four boys that are friends and live in the "quiet mountain town" of South Park, named Eric Cartman (Trey Parker), Stan Marsh (Trey Parker), Kenny McCormick (Matt Stone), and Kyle Broflovski (Matt Stone). They sneak into an "R" rated film starring the potty-mouthed Canadian Comedy duo, Terrence and Phillip. When Kenny dies ( a running gag in the tv series) as a result of stupidity displayed in the film, Kyle's Mom, Sheila (Mary Kay Bergman), becomes outraged at the bad language the children have learned, and eventually gets war declared on Canada. Meanwhile, numerous subplots continue, such as Stan's search for love, Satan (Parker)and Saddam Hussein's (Stone) love quarrel, and Kyle's independence from his overprotective mother. The plot is helped along with the plenty of entertaining songs, making the movie almost a musical. When Sheila Broflovski decides to have Terrence and Phillip executed for a U.S. soldiers' USO show, Satan decides he will use the venerable moment as the time to leave hell and take hold of the Earth. The ending of the film is great, but I don't want to spoil it. I don't think the movie can easily be improved upon, and I think that if you can get past the crude animation and humor of the film, you will see that it makes some valid points about censorship and the bizarre morals of today's society.

MPAA reasons for rating:Rated R for pervasive vulgar language and crude sexual humor, and for some violent images
